Zarif, Lavrov, al-Muallem dismiss anti-Syria chemical plot

The press conference took place on Friday after a trilateral meeting between the three foreign ministers was held behind closed doors in Moscow as part of political settlement of Syria crisis.

Lavrov told the press conference that the three countries are coordinated and convergent over diplomatic settlement of Syria crisis.

Zarif also said that chemical weapons for which Iran has fallen victim on several occasions were now deployed against Syria.

“We unanimously underline the need for fighting terrorism which takes its toll not only on Syria but also in St. Petersburg and Germany,” he said.

Iranian foreign minister warned the US and anti-Syria countries group, saying that the results of unilateral moves in the past decade are certain; they have inflicted huge losses on the region.

Al-Muallem, for his part, condemned enmity as well as last week missile strike on an airbase in his country by the US and declared Damascus agreement over urgent and independent investigations in the field.

During the talks, second since the February 2016 in Moscow, the latest developments in the war-hit country were discussed.

Other topics for discussion were political achievements and necessary prudence for pushing diplomatic settlement of Syria crisis, impartial and independent probe to clarify perpetrators of last week chemical attack in the country.

Fighting terrorism through international cooperation, continuation of intra-Syrian talks, maintaining integrity of Syria and deciding its fate by its own nation without the aliens’ interference are among the major achievements of the convergence of the three countries over Syria.
