Serbia proud of being Iran's friend

Dačić made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with the Chairman of the Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

He pointed to traditional ties between two countries, saying that relations are developing rapidly and Serbia is ready to take any measure in this regard.

Serbian diplomat pointed to 80th anniversary of Iran-Serbia diplomatic relations, expressing hope for President Hassan Rouhani and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to have a trip to Serbia.

Serbian minister also stressed visa waiver regime and establishing direct flight between Tehran and Belgrade.

Addressing the meeting, Boroujerdi pointed to Iranian parliament’s role in political system of the country.

“Unlike other countries’ parliaments, Iran's Majlis will not be dissolved and it can impeach the president,” he added.

He also emphasized tourism exchanges, announcing that private sector is capable of playing crucial role in developing relations.

Iranian official referred to Majlis readiness in ratifying incentive and facilitative rules, urging both countries’ parliaments’ cooperation in accelerating bilateral ties.

Boroujerdi described US behavior as the main factor behind spreading terrorism in the region, reiterating that Iran has gained success in fighting terrorism and is ready to present its experiences to Serbia.
