Deputy Petroleum Minister for petrochemical affairs Marzieh Shahdaie told IRNA on Wednesday that the figure is supposed to increase to 21 million tons up to the end of the year.
She pointed to Iran's petrochemical production, saying that until the end of Iranian month of Dey (Dec 21, 2016- Jan 19, 2017) we produced over 48 million tons which is estimated to hit 52 million tons up to the end of the current year.
She added that petrochemical production had 20% growth compared to last year due to improving the conditions and also launching fresh plans.
Iran is scheduled to boost its petrochemical production to 140 million tons per year in 9 years.
