Rouhani: Iran, Lebanon influential in resolving regional problems

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Berri on the sideline of the Sixth International Conference in Support for Palestine Intifada (Uprising) here on Wednesday.

He recalled the friendly and brotherly relations between Iran and Lebanon, and said that Tehran and Beirut can effectively resolve the regional problems through mutual cooperation.

Referring to difficult and complicated situation in the region, President Rouhani said that in order to settle the regional problems there is no way except consultation and cooperation.

He pointed to the Syrian crisis, and said, 'If Iran and Lebanon had not supported the Syrian nation, Damascus would have turned to the capital of Daesh (the ISIS terrorist group).'

President Rouhani said that the existing situation would be much better in one year time if such interactions prevail.

He said that the Zionist regime took advantages from all ups and downs and existing problems in the region and people of the region have tolerated the most damages.

Iran intends to create peace, regional stability, good neighboring relations and resolve the problems through negotiations.

Nabih Berri said that Lebanon intends to strengthen economic cooperation and relations with Iran.

He said that Tehran and Beirut have common interests and enemies, and added that the enemies intend to create new divisions in regional countries, so we should be aware.

Iran is tolerating heavy pressures for its support for resistance of nations in the region and standing up against enemies’ conspiracies, Berri added.

Nabih Berri is in Iran to attend the sixth International Conference in support of Palestine Intifada.

The conference opened on Tuesday morning by speech of Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and will wrap up on Wednesday evening by speech of President Rouhani.
