President: Iran-Jordan ties to serve national interests

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Jordan's House of Representatives Speaker Atef Tarawneh on the sidelines of the 6th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada (Uprising) that is underway in Tehran.

President Rouhani said Iran is ready for the expansion of ties and cooperation with Jordan in line with stability and security of the region.

He hoped that conditions will be further prepared for the expansion of ties and cooperation.

On Palestine and the importance of all-out cooperation of countries to defend rights of Palestinians, he said coordination and consultation of Muslim countries to resolve problems of the world of Islam, including Syria, is necessary.

He said efforts to solve Palestine issue, ending bewilderment and enormous challenges of the Palestinian nation lays heavy responsibility on shoulders of all, especially the neighbors.

He noted that the root cause of regional problems is Zionists’ occupation. “Intervention of big countries, especially the US in recent decades, has doubled regional problems, including attack and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, provocation of people of certain regional states and the provocations on part of the US under pretext of trying to form a new Middle East. “This has added to regional problems every day.”

Rouhani said terrorism is among other issues the US and Zionists dictated to the region. “All do know who and at what an aim they have created such terrorist groups as al-Qaeda, Daesh and Al-Nusrah Front in the region and how ancient relicts have been plundered with purchase of oil and support them by putting sophisticated arms at their disposal?”

He announced, “To counter the dictated plans and to maintain security and stability of the region, initially such governments as Iraqi and Syrian governments that are busy fighting terrorism are supported; in the next phase, regional intricacies be settled through diplomatic channels and by people of the countries; We do believe that Jordan can play a constructive role in this regard.”

Noting that Iran will spare no help to fight terrorism in the region, Rouhani said, “Due to the same reason, when governments of Iraq and Syria sought Tehran’s help, it rushed assistance. Now we are happy that terrorists have become weaker than ever in Syria and Iraq.”

Tarawneh in turn extended warm greetings of Jordan king to President Rouhani and appreciated Tehran for hosting the Palestine meeting.

He said Amman seeks expansion of ties with Tehran in all spheres.
Noting that Palestine and soothing sufferings of its people is among priorities of government of Jordan, Tarawneh said Amman will do its best to support People of Palestine and prevent transfer of the US embassy to Beit-ul-Moqaddas from Tel Aviv.

He termed terrorism as a big problem for the region and world of Islam and said maintaining stability and restoration of peace to Iraq and Syria will be a big success to the world of Islam. “Jordan has always been after stability and tranquility in the two countries and will continue striving in the field.”
