
Mehdi Jamalinejad made the remarks here Sunday evening at a ceremony on South Korea’s cultural week in the historical city of Isfahan.
Gwangju mayor and a number of officials from the South Korean city were present in the ceremony.
Jamalinejad said at the ceremony that holding cultural events would pave the way for development of cooperation in other areas and would also strengthen mutual ties.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Silk Road cultural festival was held here that Isfahan mayor described it as a reminiscent of historical ties between Iran and South Korea.
The Silk Road or Silk Route is an ancient network of trade routes that were central to cultural interaction through regions of Asia connecting the West and East.
Isfahan is sister city with several world cities including Yerevan, Iasi, Baalbek, Xi'an, Freiburg, Barcelona, Dakar, St. Petersburg, Florence, Kuala Lumpur, Lahore and Havana.
