Kuwait deputy FM says Iran is ready to develop co-op

'After Kuwaiti FM's trip to Tehran and submitting the message of Emir of Kuwait to President Hassan Rouhani, positive response was received from Iranian side which is a good sign in creating regional consensus,' Khaled al-Jarallah emphasized.

'Due to Iran's readiness, we expect progress in removing tensions in ties between Iran and the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council,' he added.

'Achieving a common solution to hold more talks in the future and developing relations are important issues, of course both sides have not reached any agreement on the time of holding joint negotiations' he said.

'It is too early to resume diplomatic ties between Iran, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and for the ambassadors of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council's states to return,' he noted.

'The general framework of common relations and resumption of ties have been reviewed in Emir of Kuwait's letter' he said.

'Iran's readiness to resume negotiations with [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council states has nothing to do with a new US president taking office in Washingto, ' he added.

Kuwaiti foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Wednesday noon.

He met with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, and they discussed bilateral ties and the latest international and regional developments. He also submitted a message from Emir of Kuwait to President Rouhani.
