Iran backs security, stability in Lebanon: senior MP

Boroujerdi made the remarks here upon arrival in the Lebanese capital for a two-day visit.

Upon arrival, Boroujerdi was welcomed by a member of Lebanon's parliament Ali Bazzi on behalf of the country's Speaker of the parliament Nabih Berri.

'For Iran, Lebanon's security and solidarity between all political parties is very important,' the Iranian official said.

Boroujerdi further hoped that more effective steps will be taken towards solving Lebanese problems and ensuring security and tranquility there.

On Syrian developments, the senior lawmaker said the people and government of Syria did gain victory at 'war of wills' during the past five years.

He further described certain world countries which made big investment in supporting the terrorists as losers.

Developments in the region particularly in Syria and Iraq show success gained by those countries which have been fighting against terrorism with all of their capabilities and facilities, he stressed.

Asked about the situation in Syria after Halab developments, the lawmaker said conditions in Syrian will become better day by day regarding the resistance of the Syrian people and government and President Bashar al-Assad.

In Beirut, Boroujerdi is to meet with a number of senior Lebanese officials on various bilateral and regional questions.
