The Commission for Social Development (CSocD) is responsible for the follow-up to the World Summit for Social Development and serves to advice the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and make substantive recommendations on issues affecting social progress that require urgent consideration.
The priority theme this year is “Strategies for eradicating poverty to achieve sustainable development for all”.
The 2030 Agenda has refocused global attention on the fundamental role of social development in realizing the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This gives renewed energy as well as a stronger sense of urgency to the work of the Commission.
