Visit of Iran tennis team, depiction of Pak-Iran strong ties: Pak min

Riaz Hussain Pirzada made these remarks in an interview with IRNA at the Davis Cup Asia Group II round match in Islamabad.

Describing the participation of Iranian tennis team in Davis Cup tournament in Islamabad as a major development, he said that this is clear depiction of strong ties between the two brotherly states.

He said that Iran and Pakistan are linked together in close ties and this relationship would further strengthen after the visit of Iranian tennis team.

The minister expressing his views said that Pakistani players have welcomed the resumption of international tennis event in Pakistan after twelve years and this also shows that due to the steps taken by the government against terrorism security situation has improved considerably in Pakistan.

“We are happy to host Davis Cup in Pakistan,” he said. The official added that the development has also paved the way for more international sports events in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan is happy to host Iranian tennis team in Davis Cup after twelve years.

“We in Pakistan consider Iranian tennis players as our respectable guests and hope they will take good memories of Pakistan when they go back to their country.'

Pakistan is hosting the Davis Cup for the first time after 2005 because the
International Tennis Federation (ITF) had not permitted Pakistan to host such events due to security problem.
