Talking to IRNA, Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh said 480 participants will attend the competitions that will last for nine days.
President of World Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is a special guest at the event, Pahlevanzadeh said.
He further said 100 Iranian girls and 180 boys under 17 are taking part in the Asian chess contests.
Also, Russian chess grandmaster Anatoly Karpov who has been World Champion for 17 times has accepted Iran's invitation to participate in the event, said the official.
Some countries participating in the tournament include Iran, China, Iraq, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, New Zealand, Singapore, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Nepal, and Tajikistan.
