Iran makes history in Asian track and field

In the games, Ehsan Haddadi, Ali Samari, Hassan Taftian, and Hossein Keyhani received gold medals respectively in Discus throw, shot put, 100-yard dash, and 3000-metre steeplechase events. Moslem Niadoost received a bronze medal in the 1500-metre run.

Iran finished 4rd after India, China, and Kazakhstan. The ranking has been Iran’s best since the beginning of the events in 1973 in the Philippines.

The 22nd Asian Athletics Championships kicked off on July 6 in Odisha city, India and wrapped up on July 9.
