US national security advisor arrives in Pakistan

This is the first ever visit by any senior official of the Trump administration to Pakistan.

General McMaster is expected to meet with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his Pakistani counterpart Nasser Khan Janjua and Pakistan military chief Genera Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss Pakistan-US relations as well as regional security.

He is visiting Pakistan after completing his visit to Afghanistan.

Pakistan-US ties suffered years of tensions during presidency of Barack Obama.

Pakistan is eager to mend ties with the US in Trump's tenure.

His recent visit to Afghanistan came few days after US dropped a huge non-nuclear bomb in eastern parts of Afghanistan near Pakistan border. There are some reports that the huge explosion caused by the bomb also has affected the parts of Pakistan in border areas with Afghanistan.
