The American elites and influential individuals in Britain, Germany and France [as US allies] have condemned Washington's measures, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
When head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) becomes Secretary of State, there remains no further expectations, Boroujerdi said in response to baseless accusations made on May 21 by Mike Pompeo as US Secretary of State against Iran.
Elaborating on Iran's leading presence in the region, the lawmaker said Tehran plays an important role in the fight against terrorism.
The terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) has been defeated due to Iran's relentless efforts and the presence of the Iranian military advisors in Iraq and Syria, Boroujerdi said while hailing the important role Russia played in this regard.
What Pompeo said about regional issues such as Syria, Iraq and Yemen were all parts of US blame games, because Washington is the number one supporter of terrorists, Daesh in particular, the parliamentarian said.
The US secretary of state on Monday made 12 demands from Iran. The Iranian officials described Pompeo's demands as being far from logic and not even worth being answered.
The lawmaker talked also of Iran's missile program, saying [promotion of] missile industry is Iran's permanent policy.
He went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran has already agreed not to have weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and is proud of its decision.
Boroujerdi further criticized the United States for designing and building new generation of nuclear weapons and also carrying out certain tests in defiance of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Majlis (Parliament) openly declares its support for the country's missile program and increases the budget for its promotion, the Member of Parliament announced.
Referring to the US May 8 unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, Boroujerdi said Washington is the number one violator of international agreements including the Iran Deal.
About Iran's nuclear activities, the senior lawmaker said that the country's moves in the nuclear arena are based on its national interests.
Today, he stressed, Iran is capable of building new generation of centrifuges, and can speedily increase [uranium] enrichment.
The US should not even imagine that it can implement its plan in Iran like what it did in Libya or any other countries, he stressed.
About Pompeo's anti-Iran remarks, Boroujerdi said those remarks were aimed at distractig the attention of the public opinion in world from the US big mistake of withdrawing from the Iran Deal.
Touching upon Europe's guarantee for the Iran Deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Boroujerdi said 'We accept nothing but a practical measure.'
In response to the US decision about the Iran Deal, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered the Foreign Ministry to consult with European countries, Russia and China within one to two weeks. 'If Iran's national interests are secured, we will remain in the deal,' he said.
