Unilateral economic sanctions against countries violate int’l laws:MP

Member of Iranian delegation to the 136th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) underway in Dhaka, Masoud Rezaie pointed to the fact that interference in the internal affairs of other countries, occupation and extremism have brought about unprecedented threats.

“These threats have not only affected peace, security and global development but have also put at risk the solidarity of international community,” Rezaie said.

“Self-restraint and being fully committed to international rights and regulations and to the principles of Charter of the United Nations especially those related to the sovereignty right of states, non-interference, peaceful settlement of disputes and refraining to use force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state are essential during this difficult and challenging condition,” he said.

He also urged IPU to take necessary measures to achieve a peaceful and fair global system and to respect the rights of other countries.

The Iranian delegation headed by senior lawmaker Gholam-Ali Jafarzadeh-Imenabadi arrived in the Bangladeshi capital on Saturday (April 1) to take part in the 136th Assembly of the IPU and its related meetings on April 1-5.

IPU, an international organization, was established in 1889. Its purpose is to hold international parliamentary talks in order to settle peace and security and promote democracy around the world.
