UN official: Regional interaction to fight drugs, smuggling continue

He made the remarks in closing ceremony for Tehran International Conference on Cooperation against Illicit Drugs and Related Organized Crimes on Monday afternoon.

Fedotov appreciated Iranian government for holding such important conference, and said that the international interactions in this concern should be continued.

He called the discussed issues in the conference useful and added that many of the conference outcomes will be proposed and considered in Vienna meeting.

Interior Minister and Secretary General of Anti-Drug Headquarters Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli expressed satisfaction for outcomes of the conference and added that the sum up of talks were comprehensive and appropriate.

He asked member-countries to take bigger steps for cooperation in this field.

The minister also expressed Iran’s readiness to host similar conferences in the field of fight against drugs trafficking.

Tehran International Conference on Cooperation against Illicit Drugs and Related Organized Crime kicked off on Monday morning in Hotel Espinas Palace and in addition to Iran’s Interior Minister Rahmani Fazli, representatives and officials from 25 countries and eight international organizations attended the conference.
