Trump’s attack on Syria has no compelling justification: US senator

According to the Hill News website, Warren wrote in a Sunday twitter message “We need a plan to hold Assad accountable. But so far I’ve seen no compelling strategic justification for Trump's missile strike.”

“Within a week, Trump's Admin went from asserting they wouldn't intervene to launching Tomahawk missiles against Assad. That's erratic,” she added.

“The President's erratic approach to Syria is not a strategy. It underscores why our Constitution doesn't let Presidents wage war alone.”

“Congress must demand an actual strategy, clear goals, and a plan for achieving them before approving additional military action in Syria.”

Trump penned a congressional letter on Saturday explaining about his missile strike order on Syria, saying that American forces are prepared to carry out more military operations in Syria as needed.

Though, first hailed by some Democrats, Trump’s decision drew criticism among some
Democrats and Republicans.

They urged US president to get the Congress permit before carrying out any other attack.

US’ first aggression on Syrian Army’s positions under Donald Trump began on Friday morning by launching missiles at Shayrat Airfield in Homs province.

According to foreign media reports, two US warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired 59 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target - Shayrat Airfield in Homs province in western Syria, the US Defense Department said.

The missile attack was carried out without permission from UN Security Council and the US Congress.
