
According to the seismological center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the quake occurred at 7:30 hours local time (3:00 GMT).
The epicenter of the quake was registered at 37.73 degrees latitude and 47.50 degrees longitude and it happened in the depth of 7 km underground.
Three aftershocks have so far happened in the region.
The Managing director of the crisis management office of East Azarbaijan told IRNA that the quake has caused no casualty.
Torkamanchay is located 180 km far from the provincial capital city of Tabriz.
