Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, made the remarks over the phone here on Saturday evening with the Afghan president’s national security adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar.
Shamkhani, in the telephone conversation, expounded on the aim of certain regional countries to make Afghanistan insecure in order to transfer the defeated terrorists from Iraq and Syria.
Shamkhani further condemned the Taliban suicide attack on a military base in the Afghan province of Balkh on Friday that left many Afghan soldiers killed and injured others in that country.
The security official then extended sympathy to the Afghan people and government as well as the families of the victims over the sad event.
Shamkhani went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to dispatch any kind of aid to the victims of the attack.
Shamkhani urged the Afghan people and government as well as the political groups in that country to launch serious counter-attacks against the terrorists.
Atmar, for his part, stressed the importance of continuation of talks and cooperation between Kabul and Tehran to uproot terrorism in the region and remove the grounds for insecurity and instability.
During the Friday terrorist attack on the Shaheen 209 corps in Afghanistan, 140 Afghan soldiers were killed and many others were wounded. Afghan president has announced a day of mourning on the occasion nationwide on Sunday.
