Strong ties with Iran, Pakistan's top priority: Ex-PM

Raja Pervez Ashraf made the remarks in a meeting with outgoing Iranian Consul General in Lahore Mohammad Hossain Bani Asadi.

On this occasion, both sides discussed Iran-Pak ties relations, while Raja Pervez Ashraf said that Pakistan wants to have friendly relationship with the neighboring Iran and also other countries.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister said that Pakistani nation can never forget that Iran was the first country that recognized Pakistan's independence in 1947 and has always stood with the country in difficult times.

He said that his visit to the Iranian Consulate aimed at further strengthening ties with brotherly neighboring country of Iran.

After the meeting, former Pakistani prime minister talking to reporters highlighted the importance of Pak-Iran relations, and bilateral cooperation.
