Iran IoT pioneer in region

The first International IoT Regional Workshop was held in Tehran, Head of the Faculty of Applied Science of Post and Telecommunication Yazdanian said.

The event does not pursue domestic aims, but it is a workshop for Asia and Oceania, he said.

He went on to say that workshops will increase interactions and exchange of international knowledge and experience.

Holding joint courses with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will result in coordination and convergence in national plans, Yazdanian said.

The Internet of things (IoT) is the inter-networking of physical devices, vehicles (also referred to as 'connected devices' and 'smart devices'), buildings, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity which enable these objects to collect and exchange data.

The event which started work today will be underway for three days in Tehran.

About 80 participants from Asia and Oceania states attended the meeting.
