Special aide to Majlis speaker congratulates Reporter's Day

Reporters teach the lesson of bravery and openness to the politicians and those who are active in the area of diplomacy, Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in his message.

He further appreciated the presence of Iranian correspondents inside and outside Iran.

Iran commemorates Reporter’s Day every year on Mordad 17 in the Iranian calendar, (Aug 7 this year) marking the anniversary of killing an Iranian reporter Mahmoud Saremi in Afghanistan 18 years ago.

The day was designated as national Reporter's Day after Taliban terrorists killed Saremi, the correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), along with other eight Iranian diplomats, in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.
