Russian envoy: Moscow to reject Trump claims, back Iran stance

'Iran has been in full compliance with its obligations under the nuclear deal,' the Russian Federation's ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan told IRNA.

Iran and the world major powers in 2015 singed a historic nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Despite frequent confirmation by the international nuclear watchdog on Iran's committment, the US administration has repeatedly vowed to pull back from the deal.

Trump in his speech at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday claimed that the nuclear deal 'provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program'.

He also called the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), 'one of the worst' deal the US has ever signed.

Criticizing the caustic remarks by Trump, the envoy described his anti-Iran JCPOA claims at the Assembly as 'unacceptable'.

Russia does not accept what he has claimed on the nuclear deal, opined the diplomat.

President Hassan Rouhani, on the other hand, in his remarks at the UN elaborated well on Iran's stances, the envoy said.

Dzhagaryan earlier this month had said that the European countries should explicitly confirm Iran’s compliance with the nuclear agreement in the face of US adverse policies.
