Parliament establishes especial committee for Palsco fire

Speaking to reporters, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said the parliament speaker has ordered establishment of the Committee to probe into the Plasco incident.

Interior Minister, Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli, attended the Supreme National Security Council meeting on Sunday to elaborate on different aspects of the Palsco incident, the MP added.

He voiced hope that after ending the operation for removing the debris, different aspects of the event are discovered.

Referring to the fact that there are several buildings with low safety standards similar to the Plasco Trade Center, Boroujerdi said, 'We should force owners of the unsafe buildings to implement safety measures.'

The 17-storey Plasco Trade Center collapsed in Tehran on Thursday morning, January 19, as firefighters were trying to contain fire in the building.
