Lodhi told the United Nations Security Council that the crisis in Afghanistan could not be addressed through military means.
By deploying more troops in Afghanistan and by relying on a military option in the country without adopting a political strategy, we are not going to reach sustainable outcomes trying to address issues in the war-torn nation.
She said a political solution is not going to work for Afghanistan while we have in place military options.
Lodhi said a negotiated peace in Afghanistan has always been on Pakistan’s agenda as it has been consensus of the world community.
Pakistan still is hosting over two million Afghan refugees and Islamabad expects gratitude not hostility from the Afghan government, the Pakistani UN envoy said.
She said the two countries have suffered the most from the menace of terrorism and Afghanistan should work with Pakistan to eliminate terrorism from the region.
Lodhi said that Islamabad strongly condemns terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.
Nothing justifies murder and mayhem aimed at civilians, she said.
