Pakistan enjoys strong ties with Iran: Pak defense min.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif in an interview said that Iran had played a vital role in Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

He said that Pakistan will not be the part of any coalition force which is based on sectarianism.

To a question regarding command of military coalition force, he said that the final decision was yet to be taken in this regard.

Two years ago Pakistan tried to mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the then Army Chief General Raheel Sharif traveled to Riyadh and Tehran together in an attempt to bring the two countries close to each other.

Iran welcomed the initiative of Pakistan to reduce tensions, but the Saudi side did not take necessary steps.
