Pak politicians support Iran proposal of fact-finding mission on Syria chemical attack

Talking to IRNA, Member of Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said that Iran has given wise suggestion for the establishment of an international fact-finding committee to investigate the matter.

The lawmaker went on to say that in the case of recent chemical attack in Syria, some governments are accusing Syrian government.

The matter should be investigated properly before accusing any side.

'The question is that why the Syrian government would use the chemical weapons to kill its own people and make the international opinion against it, this matter needs to be thoroughly probed,' he said.

Expressing his views, Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said in Syria there is Al-Qaeda, there is Daesh, the US, Israel and Saudi elements who are against the Syrian government . 'So it is a good suggestion to send a fact-fining mission to determine the guilty party.'

“Yes a drastic change will come in Syria, but only through ballot box and with the will of Syrian people; any change through force in the country would be against all international norms and no country has any right to interfere into the matters of Syria,' he said.

In an interview with IRNA, Former Secretary General of Pakistan Foreign Ministry Akram Zaki said anybody who makes a chemical attack should be condemned, but there are conflicting reports as to who did it, therefore it is necessary first to know the truth before condemning anybody.

'Setting a fact-finding mission is a good idea and the guilty party should be first determined before any other steps,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson Nafees Zakaria told IRNA that the United Nations (UN) should decide on sending a fact-finding committee to investigate the Syrian chemical attack.
