
Mohammad Javad Atrchian who is the director general of the organization in charge of transit and border checkpoints made the remarks while talking to IRNA on Saturday about two incidents in Turkey where Iranian trucks have been put in fire.
He said the Turkish government should shoulder its responsibilities regarding the safety of the lives and properties of Iranian truck drivers.
However, he stressed, the Iranian trapsortation companies too should observe all security factors needed to protect their employees and properties inside the Turkish territory.
He said his organization has warned the transportation companies since two weeks ago to be vigilant about insecurity in Turkey and advised them to use an alternative route.
So far, the official noted, 15 Iranian trucks have been put in fire in Turkey which makes the Turkish government stand accountable for the incident according to international regulations.
He said Iran will ask Turkish officials to provide escort to Iranian trucks.
According to the official, Iranian trucks are travelling to Turkey in regular manner in spite of the incidents.
