Lebanon journalist warns against new Saudi plot

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the Lebanese Al Akhbar reporter, Wafiq Qanso, said that if the Saudis become convinced that undermining stability in Lebonan is not going to bear any fruit for them, then we can witness continuation of stability in the country.

'Otherwise, there is possibility for Riyadh to embark on constructing a new conspiracy to undermine Lebanon's stability,' Qanso said.

The Lebanese journalist went on to warn that it is not possible to predict the Saudis' next step.

'Regarding the issue of Saad Hariri, the Saudis had to stay away from Lebanon under international pressures and let him return to the country and continue his job as the Prime Minister,' he said.

But Qanso expressed doubt over the effectiveness of the international pressures on Riyadh to stay away from Lebanon and not to force Hariri again to resign.

'Once again, I reiterate that everything depends on the level of lunacy the Saudis are going to exercise,' he said.

'This is the first time in the history of Lebanon a Prime Minister is facing such a pressure and intervention by Saudi Arabia.
