Iraq slams US, allies strike on Syria

In a statement on Saturday, he warned against dragging the region into a dangerous consequences and threatening peace and security.

He further noted that his country is keen on holding a meeting of Arab leaders to adopt a clear stance regarding the perilous event.

Mahjoub voiced Iraq’s concern about the US air attack on its neighboring state.

Describing the move as a very hazardous, he said that the innocent people will not be safe from its repercussions.

Mahjoub stressed the need for political settlement of Syrian crisis to meet the expectations of the country’s people.

Denouncing US, UK and France airstrike on Syria, he said that such moves will provide terrorists with new opportunity to promote their activities after a heavy defeat in Iraq.

The US together with its allies the UK and France targeted the Syrian capital city of Damascus early Saturday.

The US attack on a military base in Homs, western Syria injured 3 civilians, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) earlier reported.
