Kvirikashvili, for his part, said that developing ties with Iran is one of the demands of the Georgian government.

He added that Tbilisi seeks a new chapter in bilateral relations with Tehran after a lapse of 25 years of political ties.

“We are in Iran to set up a joint commission,' said the Georgian premier noting that he had good talks with the Iranian officials. He hoped that the talks would lead to take practical steps to impove bilateral relations.

Referring to Tehran visit of the Georgian parliament speaker last year, Kvirikashvili said that fortunately, parliamentary ties have been promoted between the two capitals.

Given the fact that banking relations serves as the basis of economic ties, the Georgian PM said that Tbilisi is trying to remove obstacles in the way of bilateral banking transactions.

Kvirikashvili also hoped that trade agreements would soon be signed by the two sides.
