Iran, Portugal ease visa barriers

The document was signed between Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi and Portuguese Secretary of State for Internationalization Jorge Costa Oliveira.

Signing this document is regarded as a significant step in promoting political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Portuguese official voiced his country’s readiness for further expansion of relations with Tehran.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister, for his part, underlined the need for enhancement of ties in different areas, particularly trade, tourism, academic and parliamentary relations.

Considering Portugal being a part of the Schengen Area, Qashqavi said that cancelling diplomatic and service visas is a very significant step in bringing the two countries closer together.
