Iran's envoy protest over killing of border guards

During the meeting held at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Honardoost officially conveyed Tehran’s protest to Islamabad over the terrorist incident which killed nine Iranian border guards.

He urged Pakistani authorities to look into the issue urgently and in detail and cooperate with Iran in the investigation process.

Nine Iranian border guards were martyred by terrorists in Mirjaveh region, in southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on April 26, while patrolling at the zero border point. The terrorists fled to Pakistan’s territories after killing the Iranian border guards in an ambush.

Iran said Islamabad should be accountable for the presence of terrorists in its soil.

“Islamabad should be accountable for the presence of terrorist groups in its soil and for the outlaw groups operation against Iran from its territory,” said spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi on Thursday reacting to the terrorist incident.

Meanwhile, the special assistance of the Pakistani prime minister offered deep condolences of Pakistan’s government and people to the government and people of Iran as well as the families of the martyred border guards who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Referring to Tehran-Islamabad strong relations, Tariq Fatemi said that Islamabad will take all measures to eliminate terrorism and assured that such incidents will not take place in the future.
