Iranians celebrate Rouhani’s landslide victory

After the presidential elections on May 19, Hassan Rouhani, the incumbent president of Iran was announced to be victorious winning 23.7 million of votes to continue his government for another 4-year termotes.

The event was celebrated by millions of people whose favored candidate became elected all over Iran on Saturday.

It was also highly welcomed outside the country by both the Iranian expats and the international community.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini congratulated Rouhani on the victory and on a message she tweeted, “Iranians took passionately part to political life of their country. I congratulate President Hassan Rouhani for strong mandate received.”

Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe sent a congratulatory letter to Hassan Rouhani. In his letter, he called for the expansion of all-out ties between the two countries.
