Iran, Turkey agree to confront common threats

Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Hossein Zolfaghari told reporters on the sidelines of the first Iran-Turkey joint taskforce.

The official added that Iran and Turkey are encountering several common threats, including terrorist actions, drug trafficking, illegal immigration, arm smuggling as well as trafficking of alcoholic drinks, humans and drug.

Negotiations for countering these threats was necessary, he said, adding that the consultations can help curbing terrorist groups and convicts that are trafficking in the border regions.

Providing security for Iranian trucks and countering human trafficking gangs as well as fighting cross border organized crimes were other topics of discussion, he noted.

According to the reports, fighting money laundering and exchange of information in fighting terrorist groups, including Daesh was discussed in the first Iran-Turkey joint taskforce.
