During the talks, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Sergey Lavrov also explored avenues for boosting of bilateral relations and the fifth meeting on Caspian Sea.
The conversation comes following clashes between the Syrian government forces and opposition groups in areas bordering occupied lands and Jordan.
Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011.
Seven years of conflict in Syria have left more than 350,000 people dead, according to an updated overall death toll released in March by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
