Iran-Pakistan women, bridge for strengthening bilateral ties: Pak info min

In an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of international women conference, Marriyum Aurangzeb appreciated the Iranian women parliamentarians for attending the conference in Islamabad.

She went on to say that Islam has never enforced any limitations on ladies and women have a very precious position in societies according to Islam as mothers, teachers and those who can play active role in the society.

The minister in her message to the Iranian women said, 'Believe in yourself, believe in your capabilities and abilities and then you can see the change that will come around you.'

She said Pakistan is one of the very few countries that gave women fundamental rights access and safeguarded that in the constitution.

“Women were given right to vote in our constitution and equal representation as well,” she noted.

She was of the view that the important thing is that how to educate women on their fundamental rights, legislations and policies in the country and it is also important that how society include them into decision making and realize them the power of women in Pakistan.

“That is what we are doing from the government’s perceptive, also the prime minister has nominated prominent women into all the leading programs that he has introduced to Pakistan,” she said.

Earlier, a three-day international women conference kicked off in Islamabad with the participation of Iranian women parliamentary delegation.

Member of Majlis cultural commission Parvaneh Selahshouri and another parliamentarian Masoomeh Aghapour Alishahi are representing Iran in the conference. Women parliamentarians from 17 countries are participating in the conference.
