Iran, Pakistan, India to sit on same table to bring peace in Afghanistan

Last month Russia hosted a trilateral meeting and after that Russian officials said that they would like to invite Afghanistan and Iran to the talks.

Upcoming six-party talks in Moscow are crucial as India and Pakistan, two regional arch-rivals, are sitting together to help solve Afghanistan security problems, as in past both countries have accused each other for using Afghan soil for promoting terrorism against each other.

The meeting also could be a positive development as it is going to reduce tensions not only in Afghanistan but possibly between India and Pakistan also.

The US has not been invited to the talks but Russians say the doors are open if the US wants to play a constructive role in the region.

US President Donald Trump has yet to announce his policy on Afghanistan as he is currently embroiled in domestic issues.

Speaking at a joint news conference with his Afghan counterpart, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrovv said most of the countries confirmed their participation. “We are expecting that our partners will be represented at a high level.” he said.

There was no immediate reaction from Pakistan over the announcement made by the Russian foreign minister.
