Iran, Pak officials conduct survey of border, agree to boost security

The officials visited joint border area where nine Iranian border guards were martyred by militants on April 26.

The Pakistani delegation comprised Deputy Commissioner Mir Shyhak Baloch and Colonel Kashif Ijaz while the Iranian delegation was headed by Colonel Najaf Safari.

The high level officials from both sides paid visit to Chaghi’s adjacent areas at Pak-Iran border near Rabat and Kachao where the Iranian security forces were attacked.

The survey of the sensitive areas was carried out on the orders of the ministers of the two countries after Iran's complaints that terrorists enter from the Pakistani side of the border and return after attacks on Iranian border guards.

On April 26 nine Iranian border guards were martyred and two others injured by terrorists near Pakistan border in southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, when they were patrolling at the zero border point. The terrorists fled to Pakistan’s territories after the killings and abducting one Iranian border guard.

After the attack Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif visited Pakistan and met with Pakistani civil and military leadership to have better cooperation between the two countries on recent border incident.
