The official thanked the late founder of Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini for naming the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, noting that it is a day of reminding the Islamic and Arabic Ummah of their duty towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first Qiblah (prayers’ direction) of the world’s Muslims.
The Palestinian nation is thankful of Iran’s significant role in backing the Palestinian cause and their spiritual, military and financial support, he added.
The Hamas senior official referred to pivotal role of Quds for encouraging unity among Muslim countries and called for the halt of sectarian violence in the Islamic world and uniting against the Zionist regime.
Zionist regime is the only enemy of the Islamic and Arab Ummah and all should get united against this common threat, Rezvan stressed.
The International Quds Day demonstrations started in Iran and 85 foreign countries on Friday morning coincided with the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The day of anti-Zionist expression was first declared by late Imam Khomeini, the leader of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, who established the annual event in order to bring international attention to the Palestinian cause.
