Envoy: Tehran, Baku ties at highest political, economic level

'Not only there is no political obstacle for both countries to have cooperation, but grounds have been prepared for Tehran and Baku to develop ties,' Jahangirzadeh said.

He referred to recent Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia trilateral meeting in Tehran, and said both sides discussed security and political agreements and regional issues.

Facilitating Iran-Azerbaijan joint investment in Astara-Rasht railway, inauguration of car-making factory, cooperation in building bus factory in Azerbaijan, production and distribution of drugs were among other topics discussed by President Hassan Rouhani and Ilham Aliyev, he added.

He went on to say that both countries put on the agenda exploring new economic capacities to develop cooperation.

He pointed to the exchange of over 1.2 million tourists between Iran and Azerbaijan , reiterating that the tourism income is excluded from the economic exchanges figures.

Cooperation between the two countries is not just limited to bilateral issues, but they cooperate in solving regional issues and fighting terrorism as well.
