Croatian speaker: Iran important in Croatia's foreign diplomacy

Jandrokovic made the remarks in a meeting with the Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Zagreb.

During the meeting, the Croatian lawmaker described his country's relations with Iran as excellent, expressing assurances that the visit will strengthen the relations.

'Iran is an important country in our foreign affairs, and Croatia is ready to boost ties with it in every dimension,' he said.

Expressing warm regards of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Zarif said that the bilateral relations will be promoted if some obstacles are removed and certain facilities are offered.

Promoting parliamentary ties between Iran and Croatia, visit by Croatian friendship group to Iran, reviewing trade, economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, as well as discussing the latest developments in the region and international arena, including fighting terrorism and extremism, were among the main topics of the meeting.

The Iranian minister, heading a politico-economic delegation, left Tehran for a visit to four Eastern European countries on Monday.

Zarif has visited Serbia and Bulgaria and arrived in Zagreb on Wednesday at the third leg of his tour of Balkans and Eastern Europe which will also take him to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

A high-ranking trade delegation comprising economic activists and entrepreneurs from private and public sectors are accompanying Zarif during his four-day tour.
