British Airways Iranian pilots cast votes in Baghdad Airport

The Iranian pilots and crew of a British Airways flight who arrived in Iraq on Friday cast their ballots at a polling station set up at the Baghdad International Airport.

Meanwhile, a group of 40 Sunnis Iranian nationals who arrived in Baghdad from the city of Orumiyeh (Urmia), capital of west Azarbaijan province to visit Iraqi holy sites, also voted in the Iraqi airport.

Voting stations opened in Iran at 8am local time (03:30am GMT) on Friday for the 12th presidential and the fifth city and village council’s elections in about 63,500 polling stations.

Over 56 million Iranians are eligible to vote in Iran's 12th presidential elections, according to the Election Headquarters of the Interior Ministry.

Out of the total eligible voters over 1.3 million are those who vote for the first time.
