Australian ambassador: Canberra never forgets dark history of MKO

He said in a meeting with Secretary General of Habilian Foundation Mohammad Javad Hashemi-nejad on Saturday.

Highlighting the significant role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in maintaining regional stability and fight against terrorism, he said Iran is now regarded as one of the safest countries he has ever visited.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is regarded as the most stable country in the region that played a very significant role in quelling terrorist groups such as MKO, he said.

He also expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of those martyred in various terrorist operations.

Australian government has a very close cooperation with Iran in fight against terrorism and the two sides' officials have visited and exchanged views at different occasions, he said.

Iran has conducted invaluable measures to help maintain stability and security of the country in a way that it is now regarded as one of the safest countries he had ever attended.

Iran successfully dealt with the issue of terrorism and is now controlling it, he said.

Australia supports international fight against Daesh (the ISIS) and other terrorist groups in the region, he said adding that such services are now underway in Iraq.

Disarmament of MKO group in Iraq was a good measure and now most of the group members who are elderly have been deported to Albania, he said.

Iranian military advisors played leading role in fight against Takfiri terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria, he said adding that regretfully new generations are victims of Daesh or other terrorist groups.
