Ukraine eager to expand ties with Iran

Monfared told Managing Director of Anzali Free Zone Organization Reza Masrour that Ukraine has undergone drastic changes compared to the past after accession to the European Union.
'Current government of Ukraine is much interested in all-out expansion of relations with Iran and this is well evident in visit of officials from various ranks,' the Iranian envoy said.
Also referred to seven flights between Iranian and Ukrainian capitals a week and said by end of this year, number of the flights will increase up to 10 as flights from Ukrainian capital, Kiev, to Iranian cities of Shiraz, Isfahan and Tabriz will be launched.
The envoy said charter flights will also be added to flights between the two countries. 'The Ukrainian party welcomes such proposals.'
He noted that last year, 50,000 passengers were displaced and the number has increased to 90,000 this year, showing 40 percent increase.
Also referring to a proposal for sisterhood of Iranian Anzali and Ukrainian Odesa ports, Monfared said Odesa port is one of the oldest ports worldwide and is a very good example to serve as a model in tourism and recreation in Iranian ports to attract tourists.
Monfared said as a country, enjoying black soil and suitable climate, ranks first in production of the sunflower, corn, colza and wheat seeds.
He also referred to Ukraine's highly favorable transportation facilities and said necessary conditions had been prepared for exchange of commercial delegations by the two countries.
