Pakistan to start ferry service from Karachi to Chabahar: Pak minister

Addressing a joint press conference with Iran's Minister for Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi here, Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo said that Pakistan is hopeful to start this project very soon.

He welcomed Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi in Pakistan, and said that Iran and Pakistan are two brotherly countries.

Bizenjo added that Iran has always stood with Pakistan at the time of difficulty.

“We believe that huge potentials of bilateral trade exist between Iran and Pakistan which is not available between any two countries of the world,” he said.

Bizenjo said that during the meeting with the Iranian delegation, 'we have discussed proposal of starting ferry service' between Chabahar and Karachi ports and 'we are hopeful to start this project very soon'.

Bizenjo added that another important thing which would be discussed during the meeting between Iranian minister and Pakistan’s Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique is strengthening of railway ties between the two friendly states.

The official was of the view that the visit of the Iranian minister would provide grounds for further enhancing trade cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.

He said that 'we would like Iran, Pakistan and China to cooperate on building a railway line between Chabahar and Gwadar ports'.
