Iran's Post-telecommunication faculty becomes ITU independent member

Yazdanian said that since past year simultaneously with restarting activities of the faculty, cooperation level with the ITU increased and several educational courses were held in Iran in cooperation with the union.

Since past year, coordination and consultations were followed by full support of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the minister himself with ITU secretary general.

Yazdanian talked about designing road map to access a higher position in the educational sector of ITU, especially activation of Asia-Pacific elite center in issues with pivotal advantages.

In addition to countries and big companies, number of scientific centers may be admitted for membership in ITU, which called academic membership, and in Iran “Science, Industry University” and Faculty of Applied Science of Post and Telecommunication are in this category.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi has already said that holding the second international educational workshop of ITU indicated return of confidence of the union to Iran and 'our country' could be a center for internet activities related to the union.

Vaezi said that Iran communications with ITU was severed over past 10 years and the faculty was not authorized to hold regional training workshop.

The first educational course was held in Iran on August 6-10 , 2016 in Tehran in cooperation with ITU, which 19 foreign and 41 domestic participants attended course.
