Iran, Zimbabwe call for expansion of economic cooperation

Erfanian said in the meeting that in the past three months three top Zimbabwean officials visited Iran.

He stressed that Tehran and Harare could benefit from the sound atmosphere created after implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as well as the grounds made after removal of economic sanctions to expand and deepen their economic and political relations.

The ambassador also called for benefiting from capabilities of the two countries private sectors in upholding bilateral economic cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean minister said that Tehran and Harare enjoy very good relations.

She said that bilateral cooperation has become closer after Zimbabwe independence in 1980 and the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Zimbabwe has signed a number of deals on banking cooperation with Iran which can increase volume of trade exchange between the two countries, she said.

Zimbabwe is to host a gathering on handicrafts industries inviting African countries and would like to invite the Islamic Republic of Iran too, to showcase the beautiful Iranian made handicrafts, she said.
