Iran urges enhancing economic cooperation with Syria

Meeting the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Amini affirmed Iran’s stance in support of Syria, depicting the Syrian-Iranian partnership as “strategic”, SANA reported.

He emphasized necessity of enhancing cooperation in different economic, investment and production domains.

Amini called for establishing branches of the banks in the two countries to facilitate the financial transactions and to activate the work of the chambers of commerce between the two sides in order to facilitate the work of the economic figures and their transactions.

He also called for upgrading the economic relations to the level of the distinguished political and strategic ones.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on behalf of the Syrian side Hussein Ragheb al-Hussein, stressed that the reconstruction is the title of the next economic phase along with the balanced work on rehabilitating all the other sectors, particularly the micro and medium handicrafts and industries.

al-Hussein indicated that the investment atmosphere in Syria is suitable.

He called for finding a mechanism to establish commercial companies in the industrial sectors in Syria which enjoy competitive features such as the textile industry in all of it types.

Meanwhile, Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud underlined the importance of taking measures by the Iranian side to complete the signing of the long-term strategic economic cooperation agreement soonest possible.

Mahmoud called for the active participation by the Iranian companies from the public and private sectors in the investment projects in Syria in different productive, industrial and agricultural domains and in the reconstruction stage.
