'We are holding talks and buy in consultation with European countries on ways to counter the US sanctions.' Araqchi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) while in Rome on Thursday on a daylong visit to the Italian capital.
'We are engaged in intensive talks with Europe on foiling the US sanctions and subsequent to the consultations, I will visit Spain tomorrow (Friday) following consultations with Poland and Italy,' he said.
He added that 'Talks will also be held with European officials on establishing financial mechanisms, making coordination on issues relating to the JCPOA and the region, which are of high importance.'
'In visits to Europe, I will meet my counterparts and in Italy I will visit foreign ministry secretary general, heads of the foreign policy committees of the Senate as well as representatives, and finally I will meet the Vatican foreign minister.'
The US has not sufficed to the JCPOA withdrawal, encouraging other countries to violate the 2231 resolution, said Araqchi, adding that the Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the JCPOA is a security and non-proliferation agreement.
Araqchi will during his one-day visit attended a working breakfast with a group of Italian journalists and researchers.
Talks on the JCPOA and ways of preserving Iran-Italy commercial and economic cooperation will figure prominently in talks between Araqchi and Italian officials.
Italy is a major trade partner of Iran in Europe.
